Welcome
“When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic”--- Benjamin Franklin
Our nation is on a course toward bankruptcy as politicians spend wealth yet to be created and enact legislation that inhibits economic growth. The Republican Party must once again stand for fiscal responsibility and the opportunity to live the American Dream.
Politicians from both parties are out of control. They are meddlesome revenue seekers with an addiction for spending what belongs to others. Politicians on the Federal, State, and local levels are turning our nation in to a welfare office.
The Bush Administration opened the door to excessive spending in 2008 and the current Democrat Congress along with the Obama Administration took full advantage of the opportunity to spend recklessly disguising spending as economic growth. We have an economic crisis because many took on debt they couldn’t afford and in return our Government has taken on trillions of dollars in debt we can’t afford.
Our current $12.4 Trillion debt will rapidly spiral out of control as Baby Boomers begin to draw their Social Security and Medicare benefits. With fewer productive taxpayers than recipients, coupled with the interest on the debt, Government will pay more for these benefits than they take in and eventually be unable to pay as promised. The current spending bills add to the burden.
At this time, Congress should be operating budgets to account for future obligations. Instead, we are spending in a manner that will devalue the dollar, reduce growth, and escalate tax rates.
I challenge every citizen to read the Constitution and consider Government’s role. Its role is not to provide for the people, but to secure the people’s freedom to provide for themselves. Representatives must protect the people’s right to prosper and determine our own fate, not their own self-interests. The Constitution guarantees equal opportunity, not equal outcome.
Having campaigned for U.S. Congress throughout the 14th Congressional district this election cycle, I had the opportunity to talk to voters from both political parties.
Many believe Republicans have a favorable chance to pick up seats in Congress, not because the Republican Party’s message is exceptional, but because the Democrats threaten our freedoms more than the Republicans.
The Republican Party must return to the values of fiscal responsibility and protection of personal liberty. The Tea Party movement is growing because its supporters strive for those values while the Democrats and Republicans debate how much of our freedoms and salaries to divvy up while often exempting themselves from their own legislation.
The only way to solve our economic crisis is to limit Congress’ power to spend and to fire elected officials that spend foolishly in primaries and general elections. We must demand a balanced budget, an end to pensions, and only allow spending defined by the Enumerated Powers in the Constitution.
Voters are apathetic because they distrust and dislike politicians; and believe they will be taken advantage of by either party. It’s up to the voters to take our government back and return it to the Founding Fathers’ intent of personal freedom and self-preservation.
Government controls so much of our lives because they control so much of our income. Until we take it back, Government will continue to grow and confiscate our liberties and wealth.
I spoke to the Aurora Tea Party in December of 2009 and put together a few of my remarks.
